History: Baldwin de Betton or de Betun was the son of Robert de Bethune (alias Robert le Roux), who was seigneur and advocate of Béthune (see 1 above). Robert is on record from c.1145 to 1191 and appears in the English Pipe Rolls between 1162 and 1165. He may be identical with the Robert de Betunia who witnessed a Scottish charter c.1165–90.
