History: Americans with the surname Subler trace their origin to Jacob Subler from Alsace, France, reportedly born as Jean Jacques Sabourin in 1807 in Froidefontaine in Haut-Rhin (now in Territoire-de-Belfort), who settled in OH in the first half of the 19th century. However, in Haut-Rhin there was in the past also found the surname Zubler.
