Based on data from the Decennial U.S. Census, the surname Simonian experienced a slight increase in popularity between 2000 and 2010. In 2000, it was ranked 16,793rd most popular name in the United States, but by 2010, it had moved up slightly to the 16,789th position – an increase of 0.02%. The number of individuals with the Simonian surname also grew during this decade, from 1,565 people in 2000 to 1,701 people in 2010 – a growth rate of 8.69%. Despite this growth, the proportion of Simonians per 100k people remained steady at 0.58.

Race and Ethnicity of people with the last name Simonian

When examining the ethnic identity associated with the Simonian surname, again using data from the Decennial U.S. Census, there were some notable changes between 2000 and 2010. In 2000, the majority of Simonians identified as White (88.31%), followed by those identifying as Hispanic (4.22%) and then those identifying with Two or More Races (7.03%). By 2010, however, the percentage of Simonians identifying as White had risen to 92.89%, while the proportion identifying as Hispanic had increased slightly to 4.88%. Meanwhile, the percentage of Simonians identifying with Two or More Races saw a significant decrease, dropping to 1.88%. It's also worth noting that a small fraction of Simonians began identifying as Asian/Pacific Islander in 2010, whereas none had done so in 2000. There were no Simonians who identified as Black or American Indian and Alaskan Native in either census year.
