The meaning of Seago
English (Norfolk): 1. variant of Seager with an altered pronunciation of the final syllable. 2. variant of Sigger, from the Middle English personal names Sigar, Siger, and Sigher, from either Old English Sigegār, ancient Germanic Sigger, or Old Norse Sigarr, Old Danish and Swedish Sighar. In each case the name arises from roots meaning ‘victory’ + ‘spear’. In medieval Norfolk the source of the name was probably mostly Scandinavian. Middle English Seger, Segor may have been variants, leading to confusion with Seager.
