George Oldt arrived in Philadelphia, PA, from the Rhineland in Germany on the ship Phoenix in October 1744; he or his family eventually settled in Ruscomb Township, Berks County, PA. Twenty years later, in 1766, Johannes Olt arrived on the ship Chance, settling in Lehigh County. There has been some confusion between the two immigrant families.
