Possibly also an American shortened form of Greek Kapralos, which may be a military status name meaning ‘corporal’, derived from Italian caporale (compare 1 above), but is more probably related to Albanian kapruall, kaproll ‘roebuck’ or perhaps Aromanian capră ‘goat’.
