History: The Jividens trace their origin to Antoine Gévaudan alias Jividen, a Huguenot from southern France, who in 1726 died in Manakin, VA. In the (US) National Huguenot Society’s register of qualified Huguenot ancestors he is listed with the original form of his surname, Gévaudan (along with its variant Givaudan), while in the similar register of the Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin the common altered form Jividen is also found. His descendants also bear the surnames Geveden, Gevedon, and Gividen.
