Altered ending reflects the Canadian and American French practice of sounding the final -t. Compare Guerrette. History: Most of the Guerettes trace their origin to Michel Quéret dit Latulippe from Aix-en-Provence, France, who arrived in QC in 1691. His surname was changed to Guéret in the middle of the 18th century and later to Guerette (Guérette) and Guerrette. Many of his descendants bear the surname Latulippe. Some characteristic forenames: French Normand, Aurel, Aurele, Emile, Herve, Laurent.
