History: This is one of the variants of the name of a Swiss Mennonite (Amish) family, originally spelled Gnägi or Gnaegi, but among the American Mennonites most commonly Kanagy and Kenagy. The first Mennonite immigrant bearing the name Gnaegi was Johannes Gnaegi who arrived in Philadelphia, PA, in 1742; among his descendants the form Kenaga also evolved.
