Irish: variant of Durack, an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Dubhraic, thought to be from Ó Dubhratha ‘descendant of Dubhratha’, a personal name meaning ‘black one of prosperity’. This surname is rare in Ireland and Britain. 4. In some cases possibly also an Americanized form of Serbian and Croatian Đurić (see Djuric), or Slovenian Durič, or Bosniak Durić (see Duric); see also 1 above.
