The meaning of Dollarhide

Irish: possibly an altered form of de la Hyde (see Hyde), which was a prominent surname in Leinster from medieval times onward. Compare Dollahite. History: Francis Dollahide, born c.1650–60 in County Dublin, Ireland, was the ancestor of Americans with the surname Dollahide, Dollahite, and Dollarhide. In 1680 he was transported to MD for some youthful misdemeanor. He appears to have been an educated man and rose to be an important landowner and politician, serving in the Lower House of the MD legislature as an elected representative for Baltimore County from c.1705 to 1721.
