Americanized form of French du Breuil (see Dubreuil). History: The name was brought to VA from Lagny-sur-Marne in Seine-et-Marne at the beginning of the 18th century by Christoffe du Breuil (c.1680–1728). His son Jean-Antoine du Breuil (1728–99) came to be known as Anthony Dibrell. Christoffe du Breuil is listed in the (US) National Huguenot Society’s register of qualified Huguenot ancestors.
