In terms of ethnicity, the Decennial U.S. Census data showed several changes in the distribution of the surname "Books". While the percentage of individuals identifying as White increased slightly from 89.06% in 2000 to 92.60% in 2010, all other reported ethnicities experienced decreases. Those identifying as Asian/Pacific Islander fell from 0.93% to 0.42%, a significant drop of 54.84%. Individuals of two or more races also decreased by 12.90%, and those identifying as Hispanic saw a drop of 24.16%. Black representation dropped significantly from 6.28% to 3.78%, a decrease of 39.81%. American Indian and Alaskan Native was the only other ethnic identity that saw an increase, from 0.39% in 2000 to 0.50% in 2010, an increase of 28.21%.
