The meaning of Bolejack
Americanized form of Czech (Moravian) Buliček, via the intermediate Germanized form Bullitschek: from a diminutive of bulík ‘bullock’. This was conventionally a nickname for someone with large eyes, but it may also have been a nickname for a naive, simple person, from the idiomatic phrase bulíkovat (někoho) ‘to bamboozle (someone)’. History: American bearers of this surname and its variant, Bolerjack, are descendants of Joseph Ferdinand Bullitschek, a Moravian immigrant, born in 1729 in Bohemia, who came to North America in 1754 and lived in PA and NC.
