1. Americanized form of German Belicken, itself perhaps a variant of Belikan, which may be an altered form of an unidentified French (Huguenot) surname. 2. In some cases possibly also a variant of Jewish Belkin. History: It was Johannes Belicken from Affeln, North Rhein-Westphalia, whose surname was changed to Belken when he and his family immigrated to the US and settled in WI in the middle of the 19th century. His original surname Belicken has died out in Germany.
