History: The majority of the American bearers of the surnames Aubé and Aube are descendants of André Aubé, who was brought to Quebec in the late 17th century as a young boy taken prisoner by the Iroquois. The identities of his parents are not known. He is, however, believed by some to be the son of Hendrick Hendricksen Obe alias Obee and Aeltje Claes from NY, his real name being Hendrick Obe(e). In QC, André Aubé was adopted by a Guillaume Lemieux and his wife.
